Senior Logistics Specialist- Allegiant Seed

Summary
CHS, Inc. is hiring for a Senior Logistics Specialist to join our CHS is looking for a Logistics Senior Specialist to join our Allegiant Seed team. The successful candidate will help oversee seed operations and logistics for our Allegiant seed brand. The ideal candidate will be a driven problem solver who is detail oriented with strong quantitative skills while delivering excellent customer service.
This is a remote position, with a preference for candidates located within approximately 50 miles of CHS global headquarters in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, to support periodic in-person collaboration, team meetings, and business needs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and plan with seed production managers for timely supply, shipment scheduling, and communicating deliveries with our customers
- Load creation and monitoring seed shipments in seed logistics tracking systems. Identify and resolve any trucking delays or issues with customers and suppliers
- Work independently, manage freight negotiations and communicate with freight team on day-to-day logistical activities, expedite the transportation of products, troubleshooting as needed
- Research, establish and maintain routing and dispatch execution, route optimization, cost containment, and minimization of out-of-route and empty miles.
- Maintain excellent customer service by providing support to business units and other key stakeholders within our order tracking, sales, logistics and inventory management systems
- Develop and maintain strategic carrier relationships aiding in effective management of logistical costs
- Seed quality assurance; monitoring and working with suppliers through seed production contract completion
- Maintain appropriate records and prepare reports throughout the shipping season and year-end activities
- Act as the communication liaison between client plants, terminal storage facilities, internal sales/marketing, and customers to efficiently and economically meet product sales/delivery execution goals
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
- Perform other seed operational responsibilities as needed or assigned
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Transportation and Logistics
Additional Qualifications
- Knowledge of the seed industry & quality practices
- In-depth understanding of standard shipping practices of bulk and packaged seed
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience working with logistics tools and ERP systems
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Economics, Manufacturing, Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Statistics or related field

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
