Today, I brought our safety value to life

Meet Sarah

Sarah Cummins is a senior safety specialist at the CHS canola processing plant in Hallock, Minn. She also volunteers as a rescuer and emergency medical responder (EMR) with the nearby Oslo (Minn.) Fire and Rescue Department.

“As a CHS employee, I feel so supported to be able to take paid time off to volunteer and give back to the community,” says Sarah.

“Being a rescue volunteer helps me overcome my fears, pushes me to grow, and gives me confidence,” she says. “The fire department trains you to remain calm under pressure and to safely respond when the unexpected happens. I can now speak to those things from personal experience when leading safety meetings at work. I can also speak to the importance of having a safety mindset to prevent injuries and accidents.”
